Shannon
Montgomery is a country music artist that
was born and raised in a family of country musicians. Her
family get togethers consisted of jam out sessions, geared
around "old" country music. -"There's
nothing better than hearing my dad and my grandfather
playing their renditions of Waylon Jennings, Conway Twitty,
and George Jones. They are definitely the foundation of
why I love music like I do." Shannon's first performance
was in front of a crowd of about 500 people at the age
of 4, where she performed Sylvia's "Nobody".
At that point, her family knew that the musical genes
had definitely been passed on to her. Not long after she
graduated from high school she knew she wanted to pursue
the big city of Nashville, in hopes of one day becoming
a national recording artist. She has since made several
trips to the city, and was able to record a demo with
musicians who were currently touring with acts such as
Reba McEntyre and Brooks and Dunn. Hearing their reactions
to her voice, gave her even more of a drive to never give
up. Whether she was doing local contests, performing in
local clubs, or even flying to Hawaii to try out for American
Idol, she has always carried that positive attitude with
her.
-"You
win some, and you lose some, you just have to remember
to have fun in every experience." Recently RCR owner,
Richard Childress, held a "Childress Idol" contest
at the Childress Vineyards in Lexington, NC. Only hearing
about the contest the night before, Shannon went just
wanting to go after every opportunity possible. After
a two day marathon style competition, Shannon was crowned
the 2007 Childress Idol. She was then given the opportunity
to perform on the main stage at the 24th annual Barbecue
Festival which brought out 175,000 people. Shannon opened
up for the WTQR Guitar Pull, which included, Mark Wills,
Andy Griggs, Steve Holy. Danielle Peck, Chuck Wicks, then
a performance by Trisha Yearwood. The response from the
crowd and all her supporters has only made her even more
excited about continuing her journey as a country music
artist.
-"The support from all my friends and family is more
important to me than anything, for without them, I have
nothing! Thank you to everyone who believes in me, I am
forever grateful." - Shannon Montgomery
